Backstory:
Frenchman Hills Vineyard sits at elevation on the Royal Slope, where cooler nights and long daylight hours stretch the growing season. That slower ripening shows up clearly in the glass. This Syrah keeps its freshness and aromatic lift, offering a lighter, more graceful take on the variety. It’s shaped by place and climate, and made for moments when you want nuance instead of weight.
Tasting Notes:
On the Nose: Delicate and perfumed. Violets and lilac lift lead into brambly berry fruit and wild blueberry, with subtle notes of black tea and white pepper underneath. The aromatics feel clean and inviting.
On the Palate: Light on its feet with energetic acidity and supple tannins. Cool-toned fruit like blueberry and black raspberry carries through the palate, balanced by gentle savory notes of dried herbs and a hint of minerality. Everything stays fresh, precise, and composed from start to finish.
Finish & Overall Impression: The finish is smooth and lifted with a floral lift, and a clean mineral edge that keeps the wine feeling focused. This is a Syrah built on elegance rather than power. Thoughtful, versatile, and easy to reach for on a weeknight.
