Backstory:
We like all styles of Grenache: Big and bold. Light and easy. Crisp and refreshing. For our first vintage making a single varietal Grenache, we wanted it to live on the brighter side of the spectrum. This is a red that does well by the pool, at the beach, or on the boat throughout spring and summer. It has a delicate profile and a precise minerality that mirrors some of our favorite wines coming out of Spain’s Sierra de Gredos. Our favorite part, though, is the purity of fruit that Washington does so well.
Tasting Notes:
On the Nose: Bright and expressive. Ripe strawberry, rose petal, blood orange peel, and pomegranate lift straight from the glass, with a sense that something good is about to happen.
On the Palate: Crisp and high-toned. Wild raspberry, fresh thyme, and citrus rind combine with subtle mineral edges adding shape. The texture stays light making it easy to keep coming back for another sip.
Finish & Overall Impression: Clean, light-bodied, and fresh. Soft red fruit lingers on the finish with just enough grip to keep things interesting. There’s a cool, earthy freshness to it, like the air right before it rains. Around here, we call it “gas.” In other words, it’s awesome. A spring and summer red for alfresco meals when white wine or rosé just doesn’t quite cut it.
Some fun pairing ideas:
- The first sunny Sunday in April. Chilled Grenache, open windows, and a long lunch.
- A mid week catch up with a friend. Light bites and stories flowing.
- Mother’s Day gatherings. Beautiful on the table and even better in the glass.
